About Terry
Born in Texas and raised in Seattle, cellist Terence Muir graduated from the Northwest School in 1983 and later attended the Eastman School of Music, followed by several years of intensive study with the eminent Russian cellist Raya Garbousova at Northern Illinois University. During this time he also played in numerous classes and lessons with the great British cellist Steven Isserlis.
Muir has founded, directed, managed and performed with chamber music series and festivals in Seattle, Boise and Austin. He has been a frequent soloist with orchestras and a guest artist on chamber music series throughout the country, as well as a substitute cellist with the Seattle Symphony, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Austin Symphony, Boise Philharmonic and Tampa Opera.
Recent
concert highlights include a live radio broadcast
of Schubert's String Quintet and the E-flat
Piano Trio from Town Hall in Seattle and
a solo recital at the Valyermo Monastery
near Los Angeles. Muir has performed and
toured with such acts as The Creative Opportunity
Orchestra, Elton John, Sheryl Crow, Sarah
Mclachlan, Pavarotti, Andrea Boccelli, The
Stars of the San Francisco Ballet and Billy
Joel.
